Joannie Rochette’s mother, Thérèse, died suddenly of a heart attack just two days before Joannie won a bronze medal in figure skating at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics.

“We all know someone in our family affected by heart disease,” she says. “Funding research will definitely lead to medical breakthroughs and help save lives in the future.”
