Hi folks, Family and Friends.
It is February and here we are again like bad pennies asking for a generous donation! Thanks for taking a look at our fund-raising page. In January this year we lost a very important member of our family, Doug's Mom, Eileen, affectionately known as G-G (for Great Grandma). She was closing in on 102 this year so we're happy to say she lived a good long life, with emphasis on the good. She was dearly loved by us all and she will be missed. But since she was so good and had such a stout heart, it seems natural for us to dedicate our efforts this month to her, in her memory.
You are no doubt already aware that cardiovascular disease is a leading cause of death for Canadian men and women. In fact heart disease, stroke or vascular cognitive impairment take a life in Canada every five minutes. It is the #1 cause of premature death for women in this country. So in spite of great advances already made in this field, there is still much work to be done. We are fundraising to create more survivors, so that more people can live long, healthy, happy lives like our G-G.
All of the money we raise will go to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, where they will use it to develop life-saving treatments that bring hope to heart and stroke patients. In the last year alone, the Heart and Stroke Foundation has helped create 165,000 survivors of heart disease and stroke. We personally know several friends who have recently survived strokes of varying severity. This is good news!
Please help us reach our fundraising goal by making a donation today. Do it now while it is top of mind. You won't regret it.
It's only with your help that we can continue to fund vital research, and return more survivors home to their loved ones.
Thank you so much for your support. We are all in this together. And we are darn sure G-G would approve this message.
