Welcome to my Heart & Stroke Canvass page!

Every year, Heart & Stroke canvassers across Canada raise funds for life-saving heart and stroke research. Most of you know my story by now from my previous 6 years of doing this that it is something very near and dear to my heart and hopefully Quinn's as well one day. I set out to originally do this to bring awareness of the Heart and Stroke disease to my neighbourhood as a canvasser since my surrounding community was made up of young people and families, so I wanted them to know that it can happen to anyone not matter age, race or gender.

This March will be 14 years  that Quinn lost his mother to a sudden stroke and robbed him of the opportunity to know an amazing person and would be mother. What started out as me just going door to door made me relaize the power of an online presence has a much greater, easier and more effective reach and success rate raising funds in todays day and age with social media via those contacts and networks.

Over the past 6 years I have been one of the top canvassers in Halton year in and year out. I couldn't do it with out all of your amazing support and efforts to help me reach and even surpass my fundraising goals that I set out to hit as my target. Hopefully my story never gets old and I can count on you again to help me in my efforts of raising money for an amazing cause. This year alone I know a few close people young again in age who have been affected by this. Some fortunate to catch it in time and others not so much.

• Heart disease and stroke are the #1 cause of premature death for women in Canada 
• Heart attack symptoms go unrecognized in 53% of women
• 2/3 of heart disease and stroke clinical research focuses on men

The numbers say it all. Women are under-researched, under-diagnosed, under-treated, and over-dying. It’s time to close the research gap and stop women dying unnecessarily. It’s #TimeToSeeRed.
