Welcome to my Heart & Stroke Canvass page!
I canvass in memory of my dad, Dale Shockey, who suffered a debilitating stroke and in memory of Bill's parents-- his mom, Dorothy Hunter, who died from Congestive Heart Failure and his father, Rod Monro, who died after suffering a stroke. Rod was only 64 years old when he died
Every year, Heart & Stroke canvassers across Canada raise funds for life-saving heart and stroke research. Contributions made now will again be matched by Shoppers Drugs'" to a maximum of $250.000.00!! Please make your contribution early to take advantage of this generous matching contribution.
I did not canvas last year--However--the previous year I raised over $900.00!! I am hoping that family members will join me again this year and that each of you will make your best possible contribution!
This year’s campaign carries a powerful message: When it comes to women’s heart and brain health, it’s #TimeToSeeRed:
- Heart disease and stroke are the #1 cause of premature death for women in Canada
- Heart attack symptoms go unrecognized in 53% of women
- 2/3 of heart disease and stroke clinical research focuses on men
The numbers say it all. Women are under-researched, under-diagnosed, under-treated, and over-dying. It’s time to close the research gap and stop women dying unnecessarily. It’s #TimeToSeeRed.
By making a donation, you’ll become part of the push for change – shining a spotlight on the inequities and fueling the scientific discovery and collaborations needed to save lives.
Funding for research is needed for this crucial cause. Please donate to save lives and give the women we love #MoreMoments.
Thank you for supporting me!
