Hi…. Thanks for connecting with me and taking the time to look at my fundraising page. Let me take a minute to tell you – why I am volunteering and fundraising this June — and why your donation means so much.
I am fundraising in honour and in the happy spirit of my Mama, Grandma Betty Walton, Father-in-Law Lavern Skogg and very dear friend Myrnie Trieberg. Your donation will help fund life-saving research breakthroughs and will give us more moments with those we love.
When it comes to heart disease and stroke, our genes should not be our destiny. It was always apparent that family history played a role in our risk factors for heart disease and stroke. But despite significant advances, we only know 20-30% of the genes involved. With the right funding, doctors predict they could unlock the genetic puzzle behind cardiovascular disease within as little as five years.
The ongoing COVID 19 crisis has changed the way we come together as a community and how we fundraise. And one thing that hasn’t changed – 1.6 million Canadians are affected by heart disease and stroke, and they need our support. The COVID 19 crisis only makes this more urgent – if they contract COVID 19, Heart & Stroke estimates that people with heart conditions are four times more likely to die from COVID 19 than patients with no underlying conditions.
This June, Manulife is TRIPLING all donations received to help those who are especially vulnerable right now. This means that your Virtual Ride for Heart fundraising donation goes 3X as far to help Canadians who have been affected by heart disease and stroke.
Please help me reach my fundraising goal by making a donation today.
Thank you so much for your support.
