When it comes to heart disease and stroke, our genes should not be our destiny. That’s why I’m fundraising for the 2020 Manulife Heart & Stroke Ride for Heart on June 7th.
It’s estimated that 35,000 cardiac arrests happen in Canada every year, with 85% of them happening outside of hospitals. This was the situation my family and I found ourselves in when last year my dad suddenly collapsed at work. Less than 10% of people who have an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest survive. My dad was one of the lucky ones.
It really does take only one minute for your life to change.
The dollars we give go towards funding medical breakthroughs, supporting life-saving research, and helping fund advocacy programs aimed to educate and better prepare Canadians to prevent and respond to cardiac emergencies.
This marks my 5th Ride for Heart, and as part of my 50km ride this year, I am asking for your help to reach my fundraising goal of $500.
To support me, click on the red "Donate Now" button.
You can also support both my dad and I through our team page, he will be joining me on my ride this year.
Your support means a lot not just to me, but also to so many others the Heart & Stroke has a hand in helping.
A heart-felt thank you for everyone's support year after year.
