I am riding in memory of my beloved husband, Phil. He was so many things to so many people: son and brother, husband, father to a large blended family, dearest uncle, Papa Phil to five grandchildren, and dear friend to a multitude. But a random virus attacked him, a fit and healthy man in the prime of his life, causing his heart to fail, and we lost him in 2016. Phil’s death left an enormous hole in my heart and in the heart of our family, but I take comfort in my memories and the legacy of love he left for all of us. I miss him every day.
My hope is that someday something this simple will no longer be able to cause such anguish to another family. Research is the only way to accomplish this work – and it costs money. Lots of money. Please remember Phil by helping to fund the research that will save someone else’s spouse, or parent, or friend from dying, 30 years too soon. That’s why I am fundraising for the 2019 Manulife Heart & Stroke Ride for Heart on June 2. Your donation will push forward life-saving research and fund incredible breakthroughs to create more survivors of heart disease and stroke. Help me fund this important research and meet our fundraising goals.
