I’ve worked at Heart & Stroke for 26 years and in that time there have been countless medical breakthroughs and advancements in care. We know, though, that heart disease and stroke still have a devastating impact; every five minutes, someone in Canada is lost to heart disease, stroke and related conditions.
As you likely have already heard, this year’s Manulife Heart & Stroke Ride for Heart is moving to an online event due to the COVID-19 outbreak.
This year things will look different. But our work is more important than ever. Without a doubt, added stress and extra safety precautions are part of our everyday lives right now. We are all feeling the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic and physical distancing measures. That’s especially true for people living with heart disease and stroke. Emerging data shows that they are at greater risk for developing serious medical conditions if they are infected with COVID-19. We need people to join us online at this year’s Ride for Heart so that we can continue our important work to protect people who are at risk for complications from COVID-19 and fund live saving research in communities across the country.
I need your help. On Sunday, June 7th, I’ll be taking part in the virtual Ride for Heart by running 10km. Help me reach my fundraising goal of $2500 by making a donation. Your support will make a difference and help give people in Canada long, healthy lives, free of heart disease and stroke.
