On Tuesday March 26 our family got up that morning excited to celebrate Brooklyn's first birthday. Little did we know it would be a day that we would never forget for a reason other than my daughter's birthday. I recieved a call from my brother in law telling me that something was wrong. I rushed to the hospital to be told that my father had suffered a massive heart attack and had passed away. He was 63.
One June 2, one day after his 64th birthday, my family and I will be taking part in the Manulife Ride for Heart. Help us reach our goal as we "The Heartthrobs" walk and ride to help fund life-saving research.
When it comes to heart disease and stroke, our genes should not be our destiny. That’s why I’m fundraising for the 2019 Manulife Heart & Stroke Ride for Heart on June 2. Your donation will help fund life-saving research breakthroughs and will give us more moments with those we love.
It was always apparent that family history played a role in our risk factors for heart disease and stroke. But despite significant advances, we only know 20-30% of the genes involved.
With the right funding, doctors predict they could unlock the genetic puzzle behind cardiovascular disease within as little as five years.
Help me fund this important research and meet my fundraising goal.
