When it comes to heart disease and stroke, our genes should not be our destiny. That’s why I’m fundraising for the 2020 Manulife Heart & Stroke Ride for Heart on June 7. Your donation will help fund life-saving research breakthroughs and will give us more moments with those we love.
The Ride is near and dear to my heart as my Teta and Jedo (grandparents) both suffered from a stroke which resulted in them not being able to do what they love, enjoy a nice walk, have those fun and memorable conversations with their loved ones. Seeing their struggles and what they had to overcome was heartbreaking, which is why I want to do more. It’s important that we all work towards a goal and my goal is support this journey with Heart & Stroke so that my two boys and loved ones have a chance at life without the impacts of heart disease.
It was always apparent that family history played a role in our risk factors for heart disease and stroke. But despite significant advances, we only know 20-30% of the genes involved.
With the right funding, doctors predict they could unlock the genetic puzzle behind cardiovascular disease within as little as five years.
Help me fund this important research and meet my fundraising goal.
